Sameness NCC 11/17/11

        Sameness is exactly what it sounds like it is when everything is the same. In Jonas' world everything is the same hair, clothes, food, transportation, everything. The founders of the community thought that this would prevent different issues such as rudeness, and fighting. This seems OK to the community because all of them except the past and current Receivers do not even know that there are choices, they have never lived with them so they can live without them. The lack of choices in the community might be safer, however choices and mistakes are apart of life they are apart of humans.

        When everything is the same and that is all that you have ever known it is just life for you. You get comfortable within your own life, and you get comfortable with your surroundings. Though sometimes comfortable is not enough, sometimes you want the rush of a risk, but how can you want that if you have never known that. Sameness is hard to fathom for us, it is our societies definition of perfection, and we all know that absolute perfection is unattainable. Sameness might be easy and safe, but easy and safe is not always what the human soul longs for.
