Rayne's Book Response

Chapter 1• How are the African-American students treated? Do you think
this is fair?
The African Americans are treated highly unliked and disrespected. It is not fair that they are treated like that.
• What happened to the Berry family? What does this event tell
you about racism in the South in the 1930s?
The Berry family's house got burned down by whites. This event tells me that in the South back in the 1930's many things could have happened to African American's because of race.
• Would you like to be friends with the Logan children? Why or
why not?
Yes, I would like to be friends with the Logan children because they all have different personalities and it sounds like a nice thing to see how they cooperate.

Chapter 2
• Why has Mr. Morrison come to live with the Logans?
Mr. Morrison feels as though the Logan's need help so he decides to come live with them.
• What danger did the African-American people in the
community face because of their color?
They were threatened by the white's that they would loose their homes and/or family.
• What might it feel like to be the victim of hatred?
I think it might feel horrible because you will get treated differently and unfairly than others.
