Mahatma Gandhi (AM+RK)

Bringing Civil Disobedience to India(pg.57): During Gandhi's protest the police killed hundreds of Indians and arrested hundreds more. Gandhi took a fast for 72 hrs. where he didn't accept water or food.
A Simple Life(pg.57-59): People in India loved Gandhi because of the many things he did to help the country. He had many beliefs about the country like the fact that everyone was a child of God. He couldn't stand to see India divide into multiple countries.
Movement Toward Independence(pg.59-60): When Gandhi was 73  years old he was arrested along with other leaders because they called a mass protest in which all Indians would demonstrate for independence. Since his fast of not accepting food and water he started to get weak and his health wasn't good. People thought he would die in jail so the British released him.
Independence at Last(pg.60): India finally was granted independence by the Britain in 1947. It was divided into two countries, India for Hindus, and Pakistan for Muslims.
Problems Persist(pg.60-61): Even though India did get there independence the country divided into two different countries. Gandhi thought he hadn't did enough to stop the division of the countries. On January 30, 1948 Gandhi was going on a platform to lead a prayer. During this transition, a Hindu felt that Gandhi betrayed them because he let the countries divide so he assassinated him.
Gone But Not Forgotten(pg.61): Today, people still believe and continue to remember Gandhi. Scientist Albert Einstein spoke for all when he said Mahatma Gandhi . "Generations to come, it may be, will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth."
